In this role, you will oversee the planning, design, implementation, and administration of the total rewards programs at Yorkville University and Toronto Film School, including compensation, benefits, wellness, and recognition. Your work will ensure our offerings remain competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with the university’s goals and values. You will collaborate closely with university leadership, the People team, and external vendors to develop and manage comprehensive programs that attract, retain, and motivate top talent.

This is a hybrid role, working two days a week in our downtown Toronto office.

Who you are

What's in it for you

Autonomy. You want to take ownership of multiple segments of the Total Rewards portfolio and lead key projects. In this role, you will be able to introduce and implement new processes, employee engagement initiatives, and best practices. It’s a chance to broaden your influence through internal communications and networking. You will work on diverse projects, guide initiatives, and collaborate with your manager to develop strategic plans.

Impact. You will work across a range of new projects and contribute to our People strategies. You will be part of a highly collaborative team focused on creating a world-class People function.

You will be supported in your growth and mentored by your manager. Joining us now is a genuine opportunity for builders who want to make a mark while accelerating their career in Total Rewards.

As our new Total Rewards Manager, you will:

  • Act as a subject matter expert. You will design and manage competitive compensation programs, including salary structures, job evaluations, and annual merit reviews. You will conduct market analysis and benchmarking to ensure our compensation practices are aligned with industry standards. You will ensure compliance with compensation and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Be a trusted point of contact. You will oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including group insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives. You will manage relationships with benefits vendors, negotiate contracts, and educate employees about benefits options. You will also manage leave programs, including short-term disability (STD), long-term disability (LTD), and parental leave, ensuring they meet employee needs and compliance standards.
  • Champion wellness and recognition. You will design and implement wellness programs that promote physical, mental, and financial well-being. You will also develop and manage employee recognition programs that celebrate achievements and foster a culture of appreciation.
  • Lead strategic initiatives. In collaboration with the Chief People Officer, you will assist in developing a comprehensive total rewards strategy that aligns with our mission, goals and values. You will manage the budget for total rewards programs, ensuring they are cost-effective and aligned with our organizational objectives.
  • Leverage data for insights. You will use data and analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of total rewards programs, providing regular reports on participation rates, costs, and employee satisfaction. You will also develop and maintain policies related to total rewards, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and alignment with university policies.
  • Support employee relations. You will guide and support employees on all total rewards-related matters, working closely with the People Business Partnering team to resolve any compensation, benefits, or recognition issues that arise.

You have:

  • The experience. Whether transitioning from a consulting firm to an in-house role or from a leaner organization, you bring comprehensive experience in total rewards, including compensation, benefits, and wellness programs.
  • The project coordination. You have contributed to strategic projects and process planning and played a crucial role in delivering complex, cross-functional projects from end to end. You have excellent organizational skills in a demanding, multi-system, multi-service provider environment.
