Who we need

We are looking for a People Experience Specialist to join the team at Yorkville University and Toronto Film School. You will play a key role in supporting daily People operations, responding to inquiries, onboarding new employees and faculty, and contributing to projects and initiatives. You will work closely with faculty, employees and managers to curate a positive and inclusive culture and environment where everyone can do their best work in service to our students. 

This is a hybrid role, working 2-3 days a week in our downtown Toronto office.

You may be a Coordinator or Specialist in a People and Culture team. Or, you may be working as internal client support on another team. Either way, you are eager to make a meaningful impact at a national organization where you can grow your career. As our new People Experience Specialist, you will:

  • Manage employee onboarding programs. You will conduct orientation sessions, coordinate new hire setup, and ensure the completion of mandatory training. You will administer surveys and conduct focus groups to gauge employee sentiment around onboarding and offboarding, providing insights and reports quarterly. 
  • Roll out employee messaging. You will develop and maintain communication materials, including updates on the People team intranet, to keep faculty and employees informed and engaged.
  • Manage employee communications. You will respond to employee queries through the central People team Inbox. You will identify common questions and streamline solutions to improve the people experience. You will draft ad hoc employment agreements and letters.
  • Perform administrative duties. You will maintain People team trackers, including data entry, stakeholder coordination, and information sharing. You will process changes on the HRIS, and ensure data integrity and timeliness. 
  • Collaborate. You will work closely with People team members to promote and enhance practices that support a diverse, inclusive and collaborative organizational culture. You will support various People programs and initiatives.

You have:

  • The experience. You have worked in a client services, people operations or coordinator role. You have active listening skills, the ability to research and relay information and excellent follow-through skills. You may have exposure to coordinating projects and rolling out processes. You are highly organized and can manage competing deadlines. You are able to display empathy and patience, and maintain open communication, always ensuring a satisfactory resolution.
  • The initiative. You are motivated by the opportunity to help others find and apply the information they need. You are happy to jump in where needed. You take ownership of your work and seek new opportunities for learning and development. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing autonomy and independence with collaboration and teamwork. You enjoy working both behind the scenes and directly with people. You are a creative problem solver, able to anticipate and respond to issues, pivot focus, manage change, and keep track of all details across competing demands. 
  • The interpersonal skills. You have professional written and verbal skills and can create and disseminate messaging on a variety of mediums. You are comfortable using the phone and MS Teams to request information or respond to questions. You excel at connecting with those around you. You prioritize being responsive and open to the needs and questions of peers, faculty and employees seeking information. You have the confidence to work across teams and with managers and leaders. You respect and appreciate diverse experiences and opinions. You are comfortable using a range of communication tools.
