Who we need
Reporting to the Associate Dean, we are hiring a Sessional Faculty, to teach theory for our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. As Sessional Faculty, you will teach nursing theory and laboratory learning, bringing your current clinical knowledge and professional expertise into the classroom and helping students connect what they learn to professional nursing practice. You will deliver established course materials while supporting an inclusive and engaging learning environment focused on student success.
Sessional Faculty work on-site at our Sackville, New Brunswick campus and typically teach approximately two eight-hour days per week.

A focused teaching commitment. You will work directly with nursing students and collaborate with colleagues in a teaching-focused academic environment.
How you will make an impact
- Create a positive and engaging learning experience. You will teach assigned nursing theory using established course materials and help students understand key nursing concepts and their application to professional practice. You will bring relevant examples from your clinical experience into the classroom to make learning practical and meaningful.
- Foster inclusive, engaged learning. You will create a supportive learning environment that encourages participation, questions, critical thinking, and application of knowledge. You will use learner-centred approaches to respond to the different backgrounds, experiences, and learning needs of your students.
- Facilitate laboratory learning. You will support students as they apply nursing concepts and develop practical skills in the laboratory environment. You will help learners make meaningful connections between what they learn in theory and how it is applied in nursing practice.
- Support student success. You will provide meaningful feedback and guidance to help students understand their progress and strengthen their learning. You will maintain appropriate communication with students and contribute to a positive and supportive learning experience.
- Leverage your clinical expertise. You will draw on your current or recent nursing practice experience to bring contemporary, relevant perspectives into your teaching. Your professional knowledge will help students understand how their learning connects to the realities of nursing practice.
- Collaborate with your Faculty colleagues. You will work with the Associate Dean and other Faculty to support effective course delivery and a consistent student experience. You will contribute to a collaborative teaching environment focused on student learning and success.
- Continue developing as an educator. You will have the opportunity to reflect on your teaching practice, learn from your interactions with students and colleagues, and continue developing your skills as a nursing educator.
You bring
- The nursing expertise. You are a Registered Nurse with current nursing registration and relevant Canadian nursing practice experience. You bring the clinical knowledge and professional perspective needed to help nursing students connect theory with practice.
- The clinical experience. You bring current or recent Canadian nursing practice experience, with medical-surgical nursing and pediatrics identified as priority areas for the program. Experience in other areas of nursing practice may also be relevant depending on course needs.
- The teaching skills. You have teaching experience or are interested in developing your teaching practice and moving into nursing education. You can explain nursing concepts clearly, engage learners, and help students apply what they are learning.
- The learner-centred approach. You are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. You can respond to students with different backgrounds, experiences, and learning needs while maintaining appropriate academic expectations.
- The professional currency. You maintain current knowledge of nursing practice and can bring relevant clinical examples into your teaching. You are committed to continuing to learn and keeping your professional knowledge current.
- The communication and interpersonal skills. You communicate clearly and respectfully with students, Faculty, and academic leaders. You are organized, dependable, and comfortable working collaboratively to support students and effective course delivery.
- The technology skills. You are comfortable using Brightspace and other educational technologies to support teaching, communication, and student learning.

Compensation philosophy
We believe compensation should be fair, straightforward, and supportive of your growth. Our salary ranges reflect progression from learning in the role to excelling, with each offer based on skills, experience, and role complexity.
Compensation for a full teaching assignment is $8,000 per course. The teaching assignment typically includes theory instruction and the associated simulation or lab component. Where components are assigned separately, compensation will be adjusted accordingly.
